Pilgrim's Wilderness by Tom Kizzia is an absolutely bonkers true crime tale, part biography, part memoir, about "Papa Pilgrim." There are two major crimes Pilgrim engaged in: one that ignited a confrontation with the National Park Service and divided the small Alaskan community, the other of which was a series of sickening crimes against his own children. It is fascinating, upsetting, addictive, and incredibly well written.

Sarah Morgenthaler's The Tourist Attraction is a pretty standard charming contemporary romance set in an Alaskan resort town. This is just the first in Sarah Morgenthaler's Moose Springs, Alaska romance series.

American Predator by Maureen Callahan is an absolutely disturbing true-crime tale of Israel Keyes: a terrifying serial killer based out of Alaska who would travel across the United States where he had stashed "kill kits" to anonymously murder strangers. Callahan's book follows the FBI as they finally track down Keyes.

Jack London's The Call of the Wild is a classic exploration of the Candian/Alaskan wilderness told through the perspective of a strong-willed dog.
